PAUL W.S. ANDERSON ATACA
Castlevania al cineEl director Paul W.S. Anderson, que ya nos dejo para el recuerdo las perlas de Resident Evil (que tenia un pase y era entretenida) y Alien vs. Predator (que es una castaña de proporciones épicas y no hay por donde cogerla), se prepara para adaptar Castlevania (basado en el exitoso videojuego de la compañía Konami), del que tiene los derechos desde hace meses. El film se realizara a través de Rogue Pictures (filial de Universal) y contará con un presupuesto de 50 millones de dólares. Pero claro W.S. Anderson no se ha limitado a anunciar el proyecto, ha tenido que abrir la boca y entre otras muchas cosas (localizaciones, presupuesto, etc) ha soltado la siguiente perla, cortesía de Variety, atentos: “Esta película podría llamarse Drácula Begins” Jajajajaja, ¡¿Pero que dice este?! Seguro que si Christopher Nolan se encuentra en la sala en ese instante le da una embolia, como poco. Luego aclaro que la película se llamara como el videojuego con lo que los fans respiraron tranquilos, por un instante. Porque no contento con lo dicho anteriormente, W.S. Anderson soltó la segunda perla al decir que en cuanto a acción estará a medio camino entre Underworld y Blade. ¡¿Pero este hombre no se entero de nada cuando jugaba o que?! Ya me veo la película con artes marciales, tiempo bala y gafas de sol. Los otros datos que dijo fue que el guión esta escrito por el mismo, y que esta relatada a través de varios periodos, pero que la historia principal tendrá lugar en el siglo XV, en Transilvania. Será una nueva visión de la leyenda de Drácula, el film será una especie de revisión del nacimiento de Vlad el Empalador. Por otra parte el equipo está buscando localizaciones en Hungría y Rumania (al menos sabe que el lugar de nacimiento de Vlad fuerón los Carpatos), con la idea de rodar en primavera. El estreno será a finales de 2007 o principios de 2008. El videojuego Castlevania (por si no le conocéis), es una saga de acción vampírica que debuto en la Nintendo NES y MSX alla por los 80 con el titulo de Vampire Killer. Y cuyas mejores versiones son Super Castlevania IV, de Super NES, y Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, de PlayStation. Esperemos que el mito de Drácula vuelva a su nivel cinematográfico de antaño porque las versiones de Drácula 2000, de Wes Carven, su lamentable aparición en la serie Buffy Cazavampiros, el espectáculo realmente bochornoso de Van Helsing, donde fue interpretado por Richard Roxburgh y en Blade Trinity que en su versión no-humana parecia un muñeco de cartulina, han dejado al clásico de Bram Stoker por lo suelos. Menos mal que siempre nos quedara Gary Oldman. PD: Si se le ocurre Drácula Begins como titulo, ¿la secuela seria Drácula Returns? ¿Y que diría Cels Piñól y sus Fanhunter al respecto? Apañados vamos francamente,mejor seria que no hiciese la película,en vez de ello,seria mejor que la produciese en vez de dirijirla,porque esta visto que vamos a tener un bodrio del copon:roll:

A priori, y por mi parte, bienvenida sea. Si el clásico resulta ser mancillado merced a la ineptitud, daremos buena cuenta de sus despojos... pero la mera e ínfima posibilidad de su presumible excelencia, a día de hoy y a pesar de los pesares, es más que suficiente...

Paul W. Anderson sucks!
Yo preferiría a alguien con más glamour, más estilo. Castlevania tiene que tener cierta delicia estética y no parecer un puto videoclip.

No lo veo el director apropiado para el proyecto aunque a mi si que me hayan gustado peliculas suyas como la primera Resident Evil y m uy especialmente Horizonte Final, que me parece una joyita!

Estoy entusiasmado por la oportunidad de hacer una película de acción y fantasía altamente estilizada, que se centre en la historia gótica y los personajes cool tipo-anime. Por una vez, el héroe humano es tan sexy y peligroso como el villano vampiro, y el arma de su elección me atrajo a este proyecto en primer lugar. El látigo asesino de vampiros”. Acción estilizada, personajes cool, héroe sexy y látigo. Está el patio como para esperar profundidades narrativas -que haberlas, haylas en según que títulos de la franquicia-. Madre de Dios. Esto apunta a desfase desde ya (y odiaría estar en lo cierto. Espero errar la conjetura). |

Ahora que me ha dado por recuperar y reacometer el MAGISTRAL Symphony of the Night es cuando MÁS lamento que un pseudo-zote como Wan lleve los bártulos de un título que podría dar lugar a una prometedora franquicia.
MUCHO MEJOR él que Anderson, eso sí.

El problema de adaptar videojuegos a veces es querer darles un tono o una seriedad impropia del material del que viene, y claro así salen cosas como Super Mario o Street Fighter, que terminan siendo no solo unas parodias del juego sino también unas parodias del cine en sí.
Sinceramente, no creo que Wan vaya a complicarse mucho la vida, al contrario que el WS que ya decía que seria una mezcla de Blade y Underworld, y adaptará lo básico de los juegos.
Queda saber si será valiente y hará una gran película de cazavampiros, y no una película sobre un videojuego más, pero es recordar al Chatwin haciendo posturitas con las luces de colores y me conformo con esto último.

Las analogías se me sostienen poco porque en Castlevania hay base narrativa que desarrollar -incluso solemnidad si se me apura, ahí queda Vampire Hunter D, que es mero trasunto- y en Super Mario y Street Fighter más bien NO.
Pero vaya, no espero nada de nada de nada de nada.
